TABLE TENNIS.

Mount Gambier Table Tennis Club conducted it’s Spring Season finals in all grades last week, with all finals being decided by the narrowest of margins. The Div. One final was very even, with the singles rubbers ending at 4 all. However the doubles skills of the Jackals team of Alex Young, Kym Muller and Lynda McPharlin proved too much for the Sad Schmad team of Nigel Wittwer, Andy McPharlin and Steve Maynard, with Jackals taking out the match 6-4.

The Div. 2 final was taken out by the Dragons team of Jon Aston, Emily McPharlin and Paul Cotton, who defeated the Drovers team of Peter Cotton, Nick Aston and Andrew Moore by the close 6-5 margin. Jon Aston winning 3 singles for the victors.

The Div.3 final was another close affair with the Good Guys team of Joyce Dean, Josh Aston and Sarah Pilven successful over the Aussie Roos combination of Anthony Gurry, Sirinat Sweet and Gaurang Prajapati. Another 6-5 result with no player able to win 3 singles.

The Div. 4 final followed a similar pattern. Close matches, with no player able to win 3 singles, and the Monsters team of Tyrone Pilven, Melissa Lucas and Patrick Glynn scraping home by the narrowest of margins 6-5.

The Div. 5 grade was decided on the team to finish top after the end of the minor round. This was taken out in convincing fashion by the Thomstars combination of Nathan Stark and Kevin, Luke and Angus Thompson.

This ended a successful year of competition, with the Summer Season due to start at the end of January. Details of playing table tennis for all levels and ages can be obtained by contacting Peter Dean on 8725 7549.
